Located in downtown Portland’s historic Meier & Frank building, R&H transformed this once empty retail space into Muji’s one-of-a-kind flagship location. The 13,000 s.f. store is a nod to Pacific Northwest with design features like locally sourced reclaimed lumber, a custom-made mason jar light fixture and artwork created by Pacific Northwest College of Art students as well as Oregon-inspired products like coffee and essential oils.

The project team successfully navigated many challenges, including international communication with the Japan-based client, working along a busy MAX line, and an expedited project schedule.
