R&H is committed to developing the next generation of builders. Our internship program is designed to provide students pursuing careers in the construction industry with on-the-job training and mentorship. When you intern at R&H, you become part of the team by supporting our active projects, company operations and taking part in team building activities, volunteer opportunities and more that support R&H’s core company values.
Training & Mentorship
Whether onsite or in the office, R&H interns have the opportunity to impact our projects, our culture and our team. R&H’s Intern Passport program ensures interns receive an enriching and well-rounded experience as they check off milestones throughout the summer. The passport provides a roadmap to developing key role-specific professional skills as well as providing opportunities to enhance communication skills, engage with R&H leadership and participate in events. Interns are paired with a designated mentor that provides training, learning opportunities and room to grow your abilities.
Make An Impact
R&H has a diverse portfolio of work, ranging from ground-up mixed-use developments and winery tasting rooms to hotel renovations and restaurant buildouts. From day one, R&H’s project engineer interns support these projects under the guidance of our experienced project teams and their designated mentor. Interns are encouraged to ask questions, attend OAC meetings, assist with site administration, project documentation, learn construction technology, assist with quality control documentation and much more. Additional intern-level opportunities may be available within R&H’s support departments that include safety, marketing and more.
Life At R&H
Celebration is one of R&H’s core values and having fun is an integral part of the intern experience. Interns are encouraged to participate company events such as Field Day, our annual company picnic, R&H’s famous lunch competitions, team-building events and more. Interns have the opportunity to join R&H’s community service efforts, play on R&H’s softball team or enter raffles for Timbers and Thorns games.

Our summer interns are off to school! Each year before they go, R&H’s internship committee finds new ways for our interns to unpack and share their experiences. This year, our Project Engineer interns shared their experience with the R&H team in a series of lunch time presentations. Miles, Jake, Erik and Bennett shared stories, lessons learned and skills developed in addition to highlighting technical expertise gained while they worked on their projects. As the summer comes to a close, we thank all of our interns and their mentorship teams for all their hard work this summer!

That’s a wrap on softball! Thank you to all the players on our team and in the AEC industry league who made this season possible. Our R&H team closed out their season with nine wins and only one loss 🙌 We can’t wait for next summer. Way to go, team!

R&H is excited to welcome five interns to the team this summer from schools in Oregon, Washington, and Idaho. This talented group of interns will work onsite, in the office and participate in company events as project engineer and marketing interns. We hosted a welcome breakfast to celebrate their arrival, and all participated in an icebreaker game to get to know one another better. We look forward to sharing our team’s knowledge and having them be a part of R&H!

What better way to celebrate National Intern Day than by taking a look at R&H’s Internship Passport? Our Internship Passport was created to guide students through engaging and educational experiences throughout the summer. It has scratch-off prizes to encourage participation and features activities ranging from creating estimates and building schedules to participating in company events. The process has been a great tool to ensure the students have a well-rounded internship experience as well as for our team to stimulate mentorship and create meaningful connections.

Go-kart racing, fly fishing, wine tasting, white water rafting and so much more! For R&H team members, this summer has brought the return of our beloved #teambuilding events and an opportunity to pick from an array of fun-filled summer activities.

Our team had a blast volunteering with @sunshinedivision. This long-standing local organization provides food and clothing assistance to Portlanders in need through food pantries, clothing rooms and food box programs. Yesterday our team visited their Wilsonville warehouse to help pack boxes with non-perishable food items. In just an hour and a half, our team packed 504 food boxes, totaling 12,000 lbs of food for the community. Thanks to everyone who came out to help and thank you for having us Sunshine Division!
