“A new community of opportunity is growing at Stephens Creek Crossing.” Home Forward‘s most recent Hope VI redevelopment project was celebrated today with themes of opportunity and growth.

In April of 2012, the former 60-unit Hillsdale Terrace project located on the corner of SW 26th and SW Capitol Highway in Portland, was demolished.  The site, a six acre bowl, had presented challenges, including moisture issues and ADA accessibility problems for residents.  To remedy the situation retaining walls were constructed and fill was brought in.  Re-named Stephens Creek Crossing, the site now features 122-units of housing, more than doubling the number of units of housing available.  Maybe more importantly, this project is providing its residents a chance to flourish with a community center for resident and neighborhood activities, a children’s center, including Head Start classrooms, a community garden, improved ADA accessibility, open space with play areas, and community education.

MWA Architects designed the project, while R&H Construction and Colas Construction partnered to serve as the general contractor.  The project was not only a catalyst for resident growth.  R&H/Colas Construction was able to reach a 40% MWESB utilization rate on the project, providing opportunities to minority, women and emerging small businesses.  Our team is thrilled to have been a part of this tremendous project!
