Ribbon Cutting - Killingsworth Station
On the morning of October 17th, Mayor Sam Adams, PDC's Patrick Quinton, City Commissioner Nick Fish, Metro President Tom Hughes and many others joined Jim Winkler, of Winkler Development, to celebrate the grand opening of Killingsworth Station, a mixed-use development in Portland's Overlook neighborhood. K-Station offers an affordable housing option on the corner of N. Interstate and Killingsworth Avenues. The project features 34 affordable housing units, 23 market rate units and 9,000 s.f. of commercial space. The LEED Platinum project offers many attractive sustainable elements including several green roofs, solar water heating, light shelves, ultra high efficient heating and air conditioning systems, onsite storm water management, responsibly sourced bamboo hardwood floors, high efficiency lighting, bike racks on every floor and it is conveniently located adjacent to light rail and bus lines. Winkler Development and R&H Construction made a commitment to surpass the City of Portland's goal of utilizing 20% M/W/ESB firm participation during construction. By making that commitment, R&H was able to exceed 40% utilization, one of the highest percentages ever seen on a project of this size.
